How to search YouTube by date or date range
Good Luck Search for YouTube is a free tool for building YouTube search URLs from keywords and upload dates. No account is required. Select “Search” to open YouTube results in a new tab.
Search by date or date range
- Enter what you are looking for in “Keywords.” For example: Kyoto walk.
- Under “Upload date,” set the period with “From” and “To.”
- Select “Search” and review the results on YouTube.
For example, to find Kyoto walking videos posted in April 2025, enter “Kyoto walk” as the keyword, set “From” to April 1, 2025, and “To” to April 30, 2025.
For recent videos, choose “Today,” “Past 7 days,” “Past 30 days,” or “Past year” to set a period at once. Each period includes today; “Past year” covers 365 days.
You can set only a start date or only an end date. To find videos from one specific day, use the same date for both. Choose “Any date” when you do not want to filter by date.
The search URL is built to include the selected start and end dates. Results may not match the period exactly due to YouTube’s date handling and time zone differences.
Filter keywords and video features
Open “More options” in the search form to set these conditions:
- “Exact phrase”: search for words in the order entered. For example: a walk on a rainy day.
- “Excluded words”: enter words to leave out of the search. Separate multiple words with spaces or commas (including full-width commas). For example: clips shorts.
- “Words in title”: enter words that should appear in the video title. For example: room tour.
- “Content and filters”: choose a type such as videos or Shorts, video length, sort order (Sort by), and features such as subtitles or 4K.
Available lengths and features depend on the content type. Some conditions, including “Upload date (legacy, experimental),” use undocumented YouTube behavior and may not work as expected.
Search within a channel
Enter a YouTube handle, such as @HandleName, or a channel URL containing that handle in “Channel.” Add keywords or other conditions and select “Search” to open results from that channel.
Content type, video length, sort order, and video features are not applied to channel searches. Leave “Channel” empty to search all of YouTube.
Handles currently support Latin letters, numbers, underscores, hyphens, and periods. Handles containing Japanese or other characters, and channel URLs without a handle, are not supported.
Save and share a search URL
Enter your conditions and select “Copy URL” to copy the YouTube search URL. Save it in a note or share it with someone who wants to run the same search. If copying fails, select the URL shown on the page and copy it manually.
Search form entries are cleared when you reload the page. Save the search URL before reloading if you want to keep the conditions. The URL contains your search conditions, so review it before sharing.
Search fails or conditions are not applied
“Search” is unavailable
You cannot search when all conditions are empty. Enter a keyword, upload date, or another condition. If you set dates, check that the end date is not earlier than the start date.
There are few results or they do not match the conditions
First, remove some conditions by resetting “More options” or choosing “Any date,” then check the results again. YouTube provides the results; we cannot guarantee that every condition will be applied or that every matching video will be found.
YouTube may change its behavior and make some search conditions unavailable. See the disclaimer for details.
