Search within a YouTube channel by date

Guide

YouTube channel pages have their own search box. With Good Luck Search for YouTube, you can enter a channel handle to build a URL that searches only that channel, and add a date range or keywords.

Steps to search within a channel

  1. Enter a handle (for example, @HandleName) or a channel URL containing the handle in “Channel” of the search tool.
  2. Enter what you are looking for in “Keywords.”
  3. Select “Search” to open results from that channel in a new tab.

The URL has the form https://www.youtube.com/@HandleName/search?query=....

Find a channel’s older videos by date range

If you also set the start and end dates under “Upload date,” the search text includes after: and before: when searching the channel. YouTube may not apply these date operators consistently within channel searches, so results may fall outside the selected date range.

For details on setting a date range, see how to search YouTube by date.

Conditions that do not apply

  • Content type, video length, sort order, and video features are not applied to channel searches.
  • Handles support Latin letters, numbers, underscores, hyphens, and periods. Handles with Japanese or other characters, and channel URLs without a handle, are not supported.
  • The tool does not check that the channel exists. If nothing appears, check the handle.

To search all of YouTube, leave “Channel” empty. Your content type, video length, sort order, and video feature settings will be restored once the channel is cleared.
